Hey, I'm retexturing a NE huntress model in a program called Photo Studio 5 as I don't have Photoshop, everything’s going fine except I loose team colour and where there should be empty areas of skin now show up as black.

When importing into Viewer get a prompt telling me my BLP doesn’t support alpha, I assume my editing program doesn’t support Alpha either? Or am I just saving it wrong? Do I specifically need Photoshop to make this work?

I heard somewhere that erasing areas of the BPL would be read as team colour or alpha channel but that doesn’t work either. This is my first post for 2 years and I can't seem to find the answers in any tutorials so any help would be very much appreciated.

Sincerely
Golemeyes,

When you export and convert the texture that you wish to targa (.tga)? .jpg/.gif/.png etc. dosen't support alpha channel and thus your team color is removed and those areas will show up as black, so export and convert the Texture.blp to Texture.tga.

That sheds more light onto it, I retraced all the steps I've taken in converting the BLPs. The texture converts to TGA fine and I can load it on my image editor but as soon as I save it again (even without editing it) I seem to loose the team colours and Aplha channels. Also the TGA tag becomes small case if that has any significance.

It could be that my image editor just isnt capable of reading alpha, I'll see whether I can a better result with GIMP.

Ahh yes it was my crappy image editor that was the problem, downedloaded GIMP and it works fine now, I thought there would be a simple solution.
