AI Expansion Range

What is the range that an AI will expand at? What are potential limitations that will stop an AI from expanding?

Currently the AI does not expand on this map.

It is not an issue with the build que, this same AI functions on my other terrains.

Probably going to sound dumb, but the AI has enough space to build right? Sometimes the AI gets iffy when it's forced to deal with space limitations.

There is room to build two castles at the closest expansion. Is there a minimum the AI needs?

There are reasons for that maybe try looking at your terrain maybe there is no path for expansion for the AI. Remeber AI don't know how to pass through waters even using a boat..

There is shallow water connecting all the islands.

or maybe your space is not enough for the AI to build.. as you know AI build at different location not thinking about the space so maybe there is no enough space..

I was hoping someone had encountered this issue before in melee terrain.
