How efficient is Wine though? Do remember that the servers are having to run this site and any performance degradation would be easily felt as longer page load times.

If it's made so users can only compile once every ten minutes it should reduce the bandwidth.

It is not so much bandwidth, but resource allocation. Is such a feature took 100+ MB of memory to implement I do not think it being worth it. A native implementation should take atmost 10MB of memory.

Interesting. I will take a look at it, but I'd prefer a more native solution.
