it doesn't matter what ability I try: disease cloud, shockwave etc..they don't deal damage to enemies. I set all the values in the gameplay constant at damage table to 0 but this only affects the attack type of units (at least I thought so)

Is this the reason why they don't deal any damage?

/edit: ok i just checked and ye..its because spells is set to 0..which kinda sucks..seems like i need to trigger the spells.

There are several attack types and damage types in warcraft. The attack types are the obvious ones (normal,piercing,siege,... ,spell). Spell is a special attack type, which most spells use (also poison, probably disease as well).
Damage types are for example magic(ignores armor), normal(reduced by armor). Every kind of damage uses one attack type and one damage type. Attack types are damage multipliers specified in the gameplay constants. Setting everything to 0 will result in no damage.

Important damage types:
normal (physical attack), damage is reduced by armor
magic (spell attack), damage is reduced by spell immunity
universal (ultimate attack), damage is not reduced by armor/spell immunity

Spell immunity does not reduce spell damage (attack type), but magic damage(damage type).
Spell immunity does reduce magic damage (attack type) regardless of damage type.

Your solution would probably be to change spell damage multiplier back to 1(0.7 against hero armor, at least that's the default values, also 0.05 to divine).
