No, not a joke, they are really making one.

Ok, so let's see here... WoW is out, FFXI is out, Shadows of Angmar will be out April 24th, A DBZ MMO is apparently being made, and now a Pirates of the Carribean MMO.

Yep, everyone company is trying to milk the MMO franchise, expect other screwed up MMOs like "Kingdom Hearts MMO!!" "Anime MMO!" "Zelda MMO!" And of course the classic, "007 MMO!!"

Yeah, but who cares, unlike other games, an MMO depends on having people play it, not just buy it. Millions if people could buy a game and never play it and a company would be successful, but that's not the way an MMO works. For an MMO to work, not only does the company have to sell the game, but it also has to keep people hooked so they keep paying for it every month. If nobody likes the game, then nobody will be paying every month. This leads me to my main point:

All of these MMO's you listed will flop. You know why? Because they will be awful, and nobody will pay to play them in the face of such fierce competition.

The Matrix Online is a perfect example. Good concept, generated buzz, turned out so horrible that the MMO Division of Warner Brothers created specially for this game sold the game of to Sony Online Entertainment. It was just that bad.

Same thing will happen here.
