3ds Max 4/5 were the best for Warcraft. However, they're gone, so don't bother wasting 3000$ on 3ds Max. Just buy Milkshape, it's the next best solution after 3ds Max 4/5, and it's cheap!

Just get Milkshape. 3ds Max costs 3000 buckers for a reason, it's extreme overkill for War3, even if it is the best tool out there.

    No discussion of cracks please.
And yes, Milkshape is a cheap alternative.

    Milkshape is free and great.

3DS Max is a waste of money. Unless you bought it 5 years ago, you'll never find a copy of version 5. The present version of the Max does not support Art Tools, so you can't make wc3 models with it anyway.

Milkshape however, is free, awesome, and it supports WC3 so go for it and save yourself a lot of money.
