Luck... a human-made fanciful concept thought to implicate positive events. Well, I don't believe in luck. Events just occur, and it's not that if I have some kind of strange shiny object in my pocket, they would've differed in any way. Objects can't determine the future; lucky stuff is just there to give you more hope and confidence, yet it doesn't technically work.
Same idea applies to the opposite theory: unluck. Come on, if I walk under a ladder, shatter a mirror or a black cat passes me by (which happened 10000 of times), I'll have unluck? That's hard to believe I'd say.
Long ago, I used to believe "7" was my number of luck, but actually it didn't bring anything positive in my life.
So let's summarize my answers to these questions:

Any magic shop in your city that sells talismans and amulets, or simply visit tarots and buy their crap. (ok, I was just kidding XD)
You don't really get one. You... baptize an object as lucky, probably because you think it brought you good fortune in certain situations, or just because you feel it from inside and can't explain it.
 
I used to believe that my dirty socks gives me luck! I remember that day when I was almost hitten by a car but thanks to my socks, I'm safe :xxd:

Just kidding :xD

Luck is weird for me, it depend, and that has nothing to do with luckiest stuff but fate itself.

It really depends on what you call luck. It also depends, if there is such thing as randomness. Who knows, may it be that it only depends on that stupid hangover, your sky-gamer has today ... :D

No seriously ... The best thing for me is to not really believe whatsoever will ever work. There is a way to do so without being a pessimistic emo, and I can tell you, this is a wonderful state of mind :)

Edit: Oh yeah, and money of course.
 
I don't use items,I actually believe God gives me 'luck'.Though it can't really be called luck,since I don't really believe in luck.I believe He will aid me,and help me achieve what I aim for.And He does.

Since my parents passed away, I kept my Father's fraternity ring and my mother's Ying and yang Bracelet.. I always wear it... I love it and it's comfortable <3 They give me pure good luck..
 
lucky without putting much or any effort into it.
My point simply was that you can create your own luck with

What if it's all fate, there is no luck but everything is predetermined. Be it by god or something else.
Some people who work hard don't succeed. And some lazy fucks (like me) live decent lives without doing all that much.

As I stated earlier, not sure if I believe in luck or fate. Just throwing the theory out there.
 
well I have a lucky stone given to me by my Grand mother

I only ever carry it on Halloween just for fun.

besides that there is this stone from Kimberly south Africa which is supposed to give good luck. I was there on holiday and the place is literally covered in these pink gem stones

but after a while the pink colour fades until the stone is completely white which I guess means your lucks run out


this is quite fun ^^
 
People keep calling "luck" the positive unexpected events occuring in one's life. But if we hadn't invented this term, would the course of action be any different for anybody? No, of course. We just decided to fabricate this abstract noun so that we don't twist our minds understanding what's behind something unexpectedly positive occuring to somebody.
 
Scientifically proven, if you drink a pill when you are sick and believe that the pill will heal you then it will heal you, even if the pill isn't designed to heal that specific sickness. The reason for that is because you have a positive mindset that you will get healthier sooner, and so it happens. I also heard rumors that a person died of cold in a freezer. The catch is, the freezer wan't on, so he died by thinking it was cold
Luck is no different. Having a "lucky" item in your pocket will definitely make you more lucky, not because it has super natural powers but simply because it makes you believe you are lucky. Some people are able to believe they are lucky without relaying on anything. Luck is believing you are lucky.
Of course, luck has its limits. If you are in an airplane, luck won't decrease your change from dying in a plane crash, but a lucky mindset will definitely result in slightly happier attitude and a healthier life. As I said, it is all in the mind, but it has its influence on the individual.

P.S luck is a human invention and it is actually real. It doesn't affect the world around you but it does affect you in a positive way provided that you believe in it.

This is exaggerated by far, and in this general form, it is just not true.

The so colled x-cebo (where as x can be no, pla, etc.) effects are still not understood in any way today, so there is no way, you can deliver any valid, scientific explanation on these phenomena.
So please just leave this useless term "scientifically proven".

Also, these 1st world sayings that one only has to think positive to succeed in life - I find them extremly provoking!

Just think of all these tens of billions of people starving each year, because they were born on the wrong side of the planet, or all these children getting bombed because of fucking money

and then say hat stuff right in their dead faces.
 
Maybe our idea of luck wandered off a bit to positive thinking. And for me they're different. We use the word luck to refer to an unexpected event that affected us positively.

We also tend to think that some objects/numbers/actions increase the luck factor, like the way some football/soccer players perform "luck movements" before shooting a penalty kick. That's why we tend to confuse it with positive thinking: IMO luck is simply our perception of random events that are positive to us, but when you're confident because you have your amulet with you and you perform better it isn't because of your increased luck, you perform better for other reasons. Events will still happen randomly around you.

So... positive thinking sure can bring us some performance advantages, but I think bringing luck isn't one of them. However I have nothing against people who carry luck amulets around - if it makes them feel comfortable and stuff, that's fair enough.
 
I would personally define luck as that which provides a positive impact without being understood (as opposed to "expected"). However, as Shadow Fury seems to suggest, I don't do the inverse. I don't define that which provides a positive impact without being understood as luck, or dismiss any of the details in the events as simply lucky, but it is a useful word to summarize those concepts.

Because the simple existence something like a lucky charm (real or not) will change the course of events inevitably just as any object would, I do believe that lucky charms can exist, and can be lucky. We could even define the term "lucky charm". I would personally define a lucky charm as an object that is kept to increase the likelihood of positive events, and coincidentally does so. By this definition, lucky charms would probably be a thousand times more rare than the objects that people believe are lucky charms, and they would be impossible to tell apart. Most of these "real" lucky charms would probably only work temporarily and for one individual, but a small percentage would work for a lifetime, for anyone who held them.

I don't have any lucky charms, as far as I know.
