Thought I'd get both these out at the same time, any advice would be welcome.
Daylight is really secondary to spectres..
Enjoy! ;D

Edit: Added new picture: Ice

I really like both of them, their special, though I am sure many will complain about the fact that there isnt really much to see in them, but then, you seem to be making an atmosphere and a moment more than you make a grand epic terrain, which I respect.

I find myself compelled to ask, are any of them edited in any sort of photoshop program? >..

Nice to see something from you again!
Sunk is awesome, kind of refreshing new -
never seen something like this before.
The first ones are good, but not special
except for light effect. Which is, one the
first pic a bit too bright. Also some more tile
variation or kind of mosaic-like would be great.

thanks for the replies :)

Hopefully my next couple of terrains will be to a larger scale, I do tend to do small scale screenshots. I didn't use photoshop, though I have changed the resolution of my screen since my last terrains and that has made a noticable change.

I will try and make the flooring more interesting, the spectres one was mostly focused on the ghost behind the statue, made from glows, but I kinda gave up on doing the head (it's so hard not to make it look silly). I'll try and finish/attempt that.

...though it seems more as though he's created some form of arcane explosion and is flying away you know
If you have used the glow effect from
the Utm you could try to tint it down,
that the light isn´t too bright. Maybe then it
wont look like an arcane explosion.

Tried playing around with the lighting of 'sink' to not make it look like an arcane explosion.
It was kinda hard, I used these two as a basis and found them a bit too similar:

The attachment below shows the darkest I could shade the glows before the light from above border appeared in the centre. But it still does look explosionesque. (Hopefully it won't look exactly the same)

Right now I'm hoping the fishies will make this look more like water, but any help on improvements would be great.

Curse you for making me think of arcane explosions :P

Edit: Added one with almost black fog instead of dark blue

Added a new picture at the top, any advice on how to improve that one would be great ^^

Thanks for the feedback ^^

True, the grasses and the trunk aren't reflected correctly.
I'll try and polish it up

Edit:
-Attached Ice2, with very minor changes (grass reflected, tree trunk changed+darkened, right sky lightened)
-Attached a WiP, nearly done with the city, then will work on rocks and sky below
Any comments are welcome ;)

The city is awesome, but the sky and floating rocks will make the atmosphere so its to early too judge. And will you use alpha tiles?
Besides that a small eye catcher in, at or around the city would be nice.

I'll probably spend more time on this one then any others, and I'll be away a week. So it'll be a good long while til I finish

Wondering if anyone knows any rocks that'll work particularly well for a floating Dalaran (thinking flipped steinlords, but there are likely better ones)

A cookie is always good.
I'll try out the high res pack when i get back, thanks for the link :)
Considering redoing what I've done so far for dalaran, going to make it city sized (which will take aaaaaages), actually if anyone wants to help me do it that'd be interesting

I once attempted to reconstruct the new york skyline in a terrain, overall I finished two buildings...

I'm betting the 2 buildings you made were awesome though

xD you make me wana make Dalaran but since you do it i dont (thinks for the first time in his life what he is going to make for a terrain)

Do it! do it! You will finish before me if you do, you can have my WiP too if you'd like, I've changed my layout and am not going to use it. And I'm not making it that accurate to WoW floating dalaran (eg: going to add waterfalls, caves in the rocks underneath and a grassy panorama... hopefully )

very realistic terrians you have there. I wouldnt improve much but light on the sink is very very dull. shouldnt you want to see the hero?

It is dull but due to the setting you would only see a silhoutte, I wanted it to look like a deep ocean/sea, and that means only one very faint source of light, the sun. I tried using blue glows to get some more detail on the hero, but it hasn't worked particularly well. But if you have some ideas on lighting improvements that'd be great
