Indians only respect someone who is in power, but soon as that person falls out of power they shun them
Chinese Japanese some British(most of the modern Brits are corrupted by American) and Africans have a sense of respect that has nothing to do with power.
Chinese and Japanese respect a person regardless of age and heritage, if they value that person or they are in that persons debt
the British, respect a person according to age or authority. they however, don't show respect to people they are in debt to unless in authority or age. they will simple be kind, not respectful.
Africans, from Africa. regardless of colour. will show respect to someone even if they are out of power, but for them it extends. if a person who they used to respect is now, let say, a drunked, they will still respect them regardless.
and yes I agree that Malaysia falls under Chinese culture ...
