Rui's review for "Hero Race Arena", by Ramsey (v3.91)
"Hero Race Arena" is a(n) (Hero) Arena type game. You choose a Hero and battle your way through creeps until you reach a final boss that you must kill in order to win. Along the way, you'll find lower level bosses and every few minutes an arena battle between players will trigger. The interval of time for it to trigger, as well as a few other options, are chosen by the host (red player) at the beginning of the game.So far so good. I just think that, with the Allpick mode, should come an option to randomize your hero.
In Ramsey's map, you won't see any terrain work at all. All you get to see here are the battle arena, the creeps' corridor and the shopping area. On that aspect, the map is plain. Does an Arena type necessarily determinate that the terrain has to be boring and bad?
The gameplay does not compensate the poor landscape, neither do the multiple game options compensate for it.Most heroes have skills that grant them any unfair advantage over others. I had a hero with 4 multiple targets abilities: Crushing Wave, Frost Nova, Forked Lightning and a Stampede-based ability. With the ultimate, I killed nearly every creep without even needing to retreat.Plus, this is yet another arena which, when joining players together for a fight, restores all their health and mana, preventing coincidences. If you're losing the game, you will most unlikely (or won't) have a chance to turn the tide. Why does the hero match have to be a separate game from the creeping one?
This is a very poorly made Hero Arena. My rating is 1,5/5, approximately 2 (Lacking). It is, with no margin for doubt, Rejected.
