Remember, when doing Swords in WC3 icons, never try to put the whole object in the 64x64 frame. Chose a part you wish to put focus on and try to fit it in the icon. For example, you made a very nice handle - then you try to put focus on the handle, like so:
Inv_sword_30.png
Inv_sword_20.png

Or, maybe you want to show more of the blade, then you try to put a big part of the blade on focus(but not ALL of it, remember!), like so:
Inv_sword_63.png
Inv_sword_36.png
Inv_sword_28.png

Also, the background seems a little strange to me at the moment, but it's probably just personal opinion.

Thats an interesting advice. I will use it well.
I wonder why some people says the bg is weird. Actually i thought i suceeded making a nice bg. I wanted to use the grey to fix with the "silver" part of the sword, but if i made a glow around the sword, we wouldn't be able to see it. I noticed so that the black was the best to define the sword, and got the idea to add a glow to the borders of the icon.
If it doesn't look... warcraftly correct, i will think about remading the bg.
