This bundle is marked as high quality. It exceeds standards and is highly desirable.

Texture Overview:

Inspirations:
It's been a while since my last texture. After a name change and a period of hiatus due to health issues, I'm excited to upload another texture. I've been considering whether I should document the creative process behind this one. Well, here you go.

Design Goals:

Nerubian, NerubianQueen and NerubianSpiderLord all share the same UV wrap format. However, it is quite a difficult texture to put your hands into. As one of the problems that these models have is that the Portrait model does not look the way it is shown on the original unit model.

For this texture, our aim is to transform the Nerubian into a chemically induced unit.

Creative Process:

I often visit to Pinterest for inspiration and create a mood board as a starting point.

I also use a couple of tools to create the texture. To streamline the process, I paint directly onto the model, primarily employing the techniques outlined in Arowanna's 3D Coat tutorial Utilizing 3D Coat for Warcraft 3 Retextures

Challenges:

The face of the model is the hardest point here. As it shows differently in the portrait model. Here's the initial face of the model for comparison:

The model's face in the portrait model is shit, it's pixelated making it nearly impossible to create a recognizable facial structure. I've experimented with various approaches, but it remains a problem.

I tried to change it to this but this still didn't work well.

In the end, this is the one that I sticked with.

Artistic Choices:

I really wanted to make the chemical oozing from different parts of the model's body stand out. Used different colors that mix well together as well as ensuring that the different textures of the body is correctly represented.

Conclusion:

There are many things that well made me aware (again, I forgot the things that I need to keep in mind). That includes checking the portrait model if the unit look the same and if yes, ensure that I'll be able to export the portrait model and paint the face there to prevent wasting the work done.

I'm loving the influx of textures we've been saying from lots of users and not to mention the quality of work! I'm very happy with how active the texture section has been recently and Moy is one of those contributors so let's dive in:

The Good:
The theme is the first thing that stood out to me, you're transformations are always unique and cool and this one is no different. This texture could be used for a unique Nerubian unit or a Sci-fi alien, either way it is versatile and been executed to a high standard.
The first bit that stood out to me is the acid on the chest and shoulder sections, it looks suitably gooey and toxic.
Then there's the different armour pieces with the blue-y carapace on the back to the bronze spine and then the bone coloured underbelly. All have that distinctive shading and the green neon highlights add to the overall look.
The colour choice is also varied but appropriate and inventive in ways that I myself probably wouldn't be able to do! It definitely shows from the mood boards and I like your little paragraphs on the design process.
The integration between different parts of the skin is also done well such as the legs and the abdomen.
And the elephant in the room is the face, you've managed to deal with a very difficult wrap situation exceedingly well and on the unit and portrait the face looks suitably scary and appropriate. I know it's not the design you wanted initially but the one you settled on looks good and I appreciate the effort!

Areas for Improvement:
The texture is very definitely you're distinctive style but I still see a couple of areas that I think need work.
For one, I know it plays into your style the circle painted look which for the most part always looks really good buuuut... I still think there needs to be more blending on this texture. The fangs and parts of the head could use a bit more blending between the tones.
The acid on the shoulders and chest look really good but I feel like the acid on the end of the fangs and the end of the legs could maybe use a bit more detail/being sharper.

Conclusion:
A very cool texture for a very cool theme. However I think it could benefit from some more blending and being a little "sharper" in places. I'm going to approve as High Quality just now but would be keen to see some touching up done in the future :)
