THE ZB MASTER

Hard work from our Warcraft vs Starcraft mod is now in action with this new take on Zergling Blood!

In [rainbow]zB Master[/rainbow], you use the specially designed macro mode to swiftly command large groups of forces while deploying upgrades and special units directly into the heart of the battle, confusing your opponent with the “eye vision", and fighting for the title of [rainbow]zB Master[/rainbow] in this rapid-fire Starcraft-styled micro/macro frenzy!

OBJECTIVE
To become the [rainbow]zB Master[/rainbow], you must reach round's kill goal before your opponents.

ROUND 1: 150 kills

ROUND 2: 250 kills

ROUND 3: 350 kills



“Points” are then handed out depending on everyone's placement for the round. After three rounds, the player with the most points wins to become the [rainbow]zB Master[/rainbow]!

Each round increases the spawn rate of Zerglings and the number of units that must be killed to win, so that each round becomes progressively more hectic.

MICRO / MACRO MODE
By selecting your Zerg Beacon (/press escape) you can enter “Macro mode”, where every unit in the arena will receive the same order.

In addition to commanding all of your forces at once, macro mode possesses the ability to rally your new recruits to a location, purchase upgrades, and drop in special units. Switching back to “micro mode” then is as simple as selecting individual units.

BALANCING ACT
KILLS – Every unit killed earns a “zB”, which can be used to purchase round-specific upgrades for your special units.

LOSSES – Losing a unit gives you “Energy”, which can be spent to drop in special units anywhere onto the battlefield – even your opponent's holdout!

HANDICAP – If you fall below 25% of your opponents average underlings, you're given an extra Zergling every second until you've caught up. A mini-map ping is signaled for each player receiving this handicap.

SPECIAL UNITS
The Autoturret acts as your base defense and allows some temporary reprieve, but don't rely on them for too long, as they can be taken down if the opponent gains too many forces.

Marines arrive as your earliest available ranged unit. They're good at chewing Zerglings up at a distance, but can be outrun easily. Stimpacks give the Marines an extra kick with 50% faster movement speed and 50% faster attack speed.

Roaches start with +1 armor and nearly double any other unit's HP. Best used as a distraction or special unit killer, as their slower attack rate makes it difficult to withstand overwhelming forces.

Hydralisks have the greatest range in the game, with an upgrade that extends the range even further. Slow movement speed makes sniping special units their strong-suit, but in a pinch their 90hp can be used to distract a few Zerglings.

SPYING EYES
I've got my eye on you – Every issued order will cause the immediate area to light up in your opponent's team color.

With this extra edge in psychological warfare you can tap into your rival's thoughts by seeing exactly where their focus is.

CUSTOM ARTWORK
The artwork for zB Master comes out of the Warcraft vs Starcraft mod we're developing, which utilizes hand-made faithful recreations specifically designed for Warcraft 3. You can actually watch some of the progression videos of the models from our YouTube channel.

ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT
We've got a list a mile long for improvements, but we'd like to know what YOU think would be best to deal with first:

  • Reduced map filesize
  • More units
  • "Turtle" prevention
  • More abilities
  • More rounds (/custom rounds)
  • "Call of Duty"-style accolades, i.e. "Most kills with a Hydralisk"
  • 2v2, 3v3 options
  • Ability to bet on the loser after you've won a round

ABOUT ZERGLING BLOOD
The original "Zergling Blood" was a classic madness/frenzy map for Starcraft 1 in which large quantities of Zerglings were thrown at one another. As you increased in kills you gained access to heroes, and after reaching the kill limit you won the game.

    This actually does sound a little bit interesting just looking at the description, I'll try not to judge just because you don't have any BB codes.

    A few things that will keep this map from being approved though:
    • a filesize of 7.87 MB, that's pretty big
    • the uploader name is slightly different than the creator's name

    As for the filesize, I'm sure that can be explained by all the imported models, sounds, music, etc. As for the uploader and creator names, you probably are just the same person, you just have two different names. Am I right?

    Btw, what does "zB" even stand for? Zerg Brood?

    It's zergling blood. From i already tested , if you go playing in starcraft 1 or maybe 2 , it better than this because both terrain and units be out of shape.

    Also, is it has a event like : every 150 kills get an uber unit. Ex Zergling blood leader , Tank , Reaver something like that

    Thank you for the tip, I was in a bit of a hurry the other day when I uploaded the map, a proper description is up now. Let me know if there's any other information I should provide!

    Uploader name is different because I'm his brother and I usually do the web-related work. If it would help, I suppose I can log into "his" account, do you think this is really necessary though?

    Aye, but there's the possibility to perhaps drop the filesize down a megabyte or two if textures were compressed further and the custom music was dropped. Would a "LITE" edition suffice? Would 4 megabytes work better?

    the trailer looks freaking awesome. this map is probably going to set me on fire and get a 5/5 when i finish testing it.
    EDIT: ok, this is footman frenzy - better 1000 times! As expected im going to give it a 5/5... the textures are unbelievably detailed, doesnt even feel like im playing wc3 anymore.
    Only suggestion is to add a game mode for more kills, one with the victory condition as destroying all the other players' structures or even one for Unlimited kills cause it's so fun =P

    No, you don't have to use your brother's account, it's not that big of a deal, it's just that people would want to know why the two names are different. You should mention why they are different in the description.

    4 megabytes would be a lot better. Most maps that are multiplayer are nowhere near as big as this one. Still, this looks like a pretty cool map.

    The map lacks in creativity as shown in how the game is played ( 5 players in 5 rooms no ally? ) and it is like footman frenzy games again. This map focuses on the detail of the units NOT the gameplay. Try make a builder that makes stuff and try to set the races to become like this setting:

    Humans- Terrans
    Orc- Zerg
    Undead- Zerg as well =.=
    Night Elf- Protoss (if you can make the designs for it)

    The other thing I wanted to point out is the map. The map should have at least more detail to it unless this is wanted as an arena. Set the name as Zerg Blood Arena then it would be better because the map name doesn't suit this map.
    If this isn't an arena then set the gameplay like the warcraft or starcraft campaigns or custom games.

    "zB Frenzy", perhaps, but arena maps typically involve control over only a few units. It might be too late for a name change...

    It's a good point on how the title may be too ambiguous.

    The "FFA" format we felt was sufficient to get the initial map release out there, but 2v2 and 3v3 is already a part of the "room for improvement" list up above.

    I think you're confusing the Warcraft vs Starcraft mod and zB Master. zb Master is intended to be a take on "Zergling Blood", a rather simple Starcraft 1 map comprising almost entirely of Zerglings.

    As for adding in "builders", we've already capped the filesize at 7.87 megabytes with the possibility reducing it down to the popularly requested 4 megabytes only by slashing texture resolutions. Including entire tech trees is a bit out of the question.

    It's a good thought on the three races option though. If we ever end up modeling the Zealot for WvS, a choice between the three races might be an option. In the meantime we have to use what we've built.

    The arena setting befitted gameplay best, as when we had the environment too large the results were too boring.

    Expanding the map to include two or three other arena variations might help to increase re-playability for that matter.

    On the contrary, the balance of the unit dynamic was a specific focus. In all of our various matches, we have yet to find a specific unit combination that ensures victory. Guy builds a bunch of Marines? Go Hydralisk range or Zergling Speed. Someone masses Roaches? Gang them with stimmed Marines, etc.
