Which is a better design for hero selection: taverns (DotA) or wisp-to-circles? Poll inside

In Hero Arena, or Hero Defense maps, you can select your hero in two ways (usually):
By selecting a tavern and choosing your hero from there,
or
By moving a wisp/shade/something to a circle next to the actual hero.

Which do you think is better?
I am literally on a 50/50 on this one, and would like some feedback!

Link to the poll: Tavern or Move To Circle?

Hope this is the right subforum for this!

PS: I am not using the built-in poll maker because I also posted this on a reddit subforum

I think the wisp one feels and looks better but the tavern lets you actually write out important information and will probably be more beneficial to someone replaying the game. It might also encourage trying some hero that seems to be cool based on the tooltip where you have to just go by looks and, worse, experience (encourages playing only the same hero or just heroes of the favourite model when there may be something else they would like) in the wisp version.

+1 to @Chaosy

What I've done in one of my maps is a reverse-wisp mixed with Chaosy's suggestion.
The player controls 1 hero, max level, in a small isolated area with a dummy for testing attacks & skills and switches between heroes. When happy, walks into a circle and you know what follows ;)

PS: Watch out for any global spells/teleport/etc. spells though, you'll have to "isolate" them during character selection.
PS2: Although, when I look back... Walks into a circle is not the best way to do it... rather should have probably done like a dummy skill that selects a hero or a friendly wisp that has a skill or something that doesn't leave a useless region around...

I would prefer wisp to circle over taverns because taverns do not show all the relevant info like attack, defense, hp, and mana, but taverns do provide lots of descriptions and stuff

Tavern gives you OG vibes, so I'd probably implement hero selection as tavern just for that sake.
