Which ability to base this spell on?

I need to base my spell on an ability that is of the instant type, I've tried a lot of different instant type abilities but all of them behaves weird, for example ressurection demands you to have dead corpses nearby, howl creates a sound thats not removeable and so on.

is using channel, and then with triggers order unit to stop the only way?

Stomp ? Or Howl ? Sounds can be removed... Or summon elemental without unit ? Channel can work too...

thunderclap, berserk, rage, the mountain giant spell; i think its called taunt, and as already mentioned, channel should always be an option

In order to make an instant spell out of the default, e.g. Howl of Terror/ Battle Roar/ Roar,
go to Art - caster and delete it, delete the values of the spell, set the Targets allowed to "None" only and remove the Buff. You can also have "Channel" with Target Type to "Instant (No target)".

minimum summoned units is 1 ;(

This removed the sound from howl, but what if I also want a caster art? do I have to add it through triggers as well?

wouldn't that make the sound or another sound come back?

It depends on the model; some models already have a sound by default. Well, get a model that has no sound. Know that Howl of Terror/Battle Roar and Roar DO have sounds, healing spray, frost nova, replenish mana, spirit touch.. All of them. Search for a non-sound one.
