What should I do to this icon...?

So I made a drawing in photoshop of a hand (for an icon) and I don't know what to do with it now...
Someone please tell me!

A black Background would definitely help. All wc icons have black backgrounds I think. And Shading as purge said. And A slight glow around it.

Well yes, I am going to do all that anyways, but really I want some kind of cool background to make it look like a spell or something. Alas, I can't think of anything :]
Well here's my attempt at glow/shading. I don't really know how to put shadow on a hand so bear with me...

No no no, he means shading on the hand. Make it darked around the fingers and add a radial light source like your background gradient is.

I did shade the hand. Apparently not enough, but it looked really strange when I did more.
