What do affirmations do?

Have any of you ever heard of those double-blind prayer tests, where some patient had a fatal disease like cancer and his family/friends were praying for him, and neither him nor his docter knew but in situations like this it has been consistantly shown that those being prayed for were more likely to live. It seems to me born of the same stuff as affirmations (if you don't know what affirmations are go have a look), I'm not claiming god actually went and helped them, as I don't beleive in god but if you think about prayer as a form of affirmation you can see what I mean.

Yeah, it is pretty handy for when posts start to get waaay off topic. I do not usually use it as it tends to somehow kill the thread thereafter for some strange reason. Maybe it is a symbiote and needs the original esscence of the thread in order to survive...

Or maybe because people (like me) are lazy and simply do not respond. Nah, could not be that...
