Note about model:
ZLightArrow is to be used as a projectile, and ZLightArrowImpact is supposed to be played on the target. If you use the Light Arrow as a spell, then you can probally use the Impact model in the "Art - Target" or "Art - Special" field or use a trigger. Try using Cold Arrows as a base spell. Im not triggering expert. the models are here, its up to you to figure out how to use them!
This model in particular I was struggling on how it should look, especially the impact. It would be really helpful if you game feedback on this model for potential changes in version 2. This model saves space by using textures in the War3.MPQ.

Im a hobby modeler, and dont intend on making anything to complex. Therefore you can expect just more of these very low poly models that tend to be doodads, items, attachments, etc. My goal for any model is to make it practical, useful in many different map types, and most importantly to have the smallest "map weight" possible without sacrificing my vision or its quality. i know exactly how to do that.

you just need to do a triger like

Events-a unit is attacked
conditions-attacking unit is so and so
actions-attach special effect lightarrowimpact to attacked units origin
actions-wait 2.00 seconds
actions-remove last created special effect

hope this helps anyone who downloads this model

Why didnt you just make the impact the death animation?:/
Very good question. I originally did have it as the death animation, but the glow didnt billboard proprly (i think it billboarded to the attacker, not to the main camera). The only other alternative was to make the impact a seperate model, despite how much of a pain it was.
I would like more feed back on the model's appearance. Comon! Tell me what you think!

uhh... cant u just go in object editor and go to the lightarrow spell and make the art-target the light arrows impact??????

I believe you can do that. That would be the best way to do it. When testing the model prior to release i used the "Unit is under attack" trigger and the impact animation didnt play on impact, but instead when the attacked unit realized that something was attacking.
o yea, it would be nice if it had an icon
I think in 3D, I find 2D drawing harder than 3D modeling. But maybe ill take a screenshot of the model close up, fiddle with it in Photoshop and see what comes out.

Looks incredibly cool, one of the few missle models. Excellent work, this would be perfect for someone making a zelda map. 5/5.

This needs to be made into 1 model. It's much more practical.

Not every spell uses the Target Art field, I don't think even arrows (any of them) use it, making this very hard to look good.

Unit-Unit is attacked isn't usable, as flight times vary.

I initially made the Impact model the death anim for the arrow, but the short story is that it didnt work out that way.
There is a plane in the impact model that creates the circular glow on impact that faces the camera regardless of its position. Thats a technique called "billboarding." When i wanted the glowing plane to billboard in the arrow's death animation it billboarded incorrectly and I considered it a huge graphical flaw, therefore I needed to make a seperate impact model.
I know its "practical" to of had it 1 model. Thats why Itried that first. :roll:
This comment on there being 2 seperate models is getting old.

how about using black arrows and replacing the graphic with light arrow, make the buff on black arrow have the graphic of the impact model...

You don't need a trigger to attach it, just use the 'Art - Target' in object editor, or else a buff.

sweet model 5/5, and if anyone is looking for an icon for this, i found one, although it doesnt have the autocast art (the four square yellow edges) it still shows when its autocasting and still worther rather well
