In the Object Editor, in Abilities tab, remove the Vorpal Blades requirement (Techtree - Requirements).

It doesn't work like that.

It's not the actual ability that gives you Vorpal Blades, but the upgrade. To get vorpal blades to work you need to add Vorpal Blades to "upgrades used". I need it to work without it require the upgrade, as in they have it by default.

It requires that "Weapon Type" of a unit must be either Artillery (Line) or Missile (Line), then increase both "Damage Spill Distance" and "Damage Spill Radius". The upgrade itself just increases the "Damage Spill Distance" from 0 to 200 (and enables attack 2 too whoo) for all Glaive Throwers; they already have its radius defined as 50 by default.

If you open the 'Upgrades' tab in the Object Editor and select the Vorpal Blades upgrade, you will see exactly what it does; it increases the attack spill distance from 0 to 200 (as BloodSoul already said), disables Attack 1 and enables Attack 2.

So, if you want the upgrade's effects without needing to research it, just select the Glaive Thrower in the Object Editor and set 'Combat - Attacks Enabled' to 'Attack 2 Only' and 'Combat - Attack 2 - Damage Spill Distance' to 200.
