Polularity wise, mario with no argument.

Physically, it would be prety close between cloud strife and sonic the hedgehog as both have insane power.
Sonic in super form can literly smash through whole armies without slowing down.
Cloud has absolutly rediclous damage moves at his disposial which are able to stop beings capable of destroying planets, namingly TKotR materia and omni slash.

Link and mario are just too weak to compete and the rest are like nobodies. Yes masterchief is kick ass with his gun, but I do not think his gun will have much effect on cloud who can survive a sun exploding or sonic who can just evade them at mache 3.
