I dont't think you can make faces in Vertex Modifier, but you can clone a face and change the VERTECES to make it what you want. Or you can import a geoset( It is Merge Geoset, under file), this means that you can import a part(geoset) of another model into your current file.

If you wish to create a face you would have to open the file in a modeling program like milkshape and create it yourself. Hope this helped.
