This is really an excellent program and I think there are no other UV mappers out there. This basically makes an almost perfect UV Map. My UV map, currently, could have been done better, but at the time I didn't know about splitting. The site is packed full of helpful video tutorials. Unfortunately, this program isn't free anymore (supposedly it was awhile ago, I don't know) but you can get the trial

Anyway, I just thought I'd advertise it just encase someone may need it

Yeah, I have been using it for few months now and I must say much better than Maya Uv Texture Editor.
Oh and SuPa, in order to get more detailed texture, I suggest you separate your model into parts and then creating for each part his own Uv's in zero to one space.
