Uprooted ancient ability question

The ability in question is Eat Tree. Is there a way to replicate such an ability that appears only in the uprooted ancient form or is it hard coded?
I ask because Eat Tree is not available while the ancient is rooted but shows up when uprooted while any other abilities (vanilla or otherwise) shows up while rooted but not when uprooted.
