Upgrading an ability

I tried to make Parasite ability passive with orb of lightning item ability and adding 2 upgrades for making it stronger.
But somehow none of these 2 upgrades are working, 1 upgrade improves orb of lightning item ability and increases chance of making it happen
the 2nd upgrade improves the parasite ability, making it deal more damage.
Why it both doesnt work and how to fix it?

Techs only affect units having the wanted techs inside its "used upgrades" field.
Add them to your units, no need for triggers here.
