Launches a hook in a straight line towards the target position. If it comes into contact with a tree, it pulls the hero towards the tree, while dealing damage to units in its path.

Whirling Death only deals pure damage if it cuts trees in the process, else it will deal magic damage. However for Timber Chain, the damage is always pure.

Note that the Chain will break if the caster being disabled (stun, hex, cyclone, etc). The Chains shouldnt deal damage if it dont reach the tree.

You sure, kid ?
Because I was VS and I stunned him after he releases the chain.
Soon after his chain hits a tree and it carries him across towards the trees while him being stunned.

I have modded WarCraft III for over 7 years and never heard of "pure damage" until today.

lol... Pure damage is damage that when it's dealt, it wont be reduced by any type of reduction

I am quite sure this is not called Pure damage.
In fact I think the damage type is called: Universal

Remember not to confuse this with attack types by the way.

I believe it's a combination of Universal + Chaos.

IceFrog uses the term "pure" to be more user-friendly, for that term to be easily understandable by all sides.

He can't use the word "Universal", it will make them confuse, "da hell is universal when you can damage a unit ?".

Weird. I thought Universal damage still be reduce by the Hero Armor, it just like Magic damage but goes through Magic Immune. And Chaos attack type is reduces by normal armor too.

If you feel insecure, you could always run an experiment yourselves.

That's easy, just use dummy unit to go forward each 0.1 second and search doodle of tree (all trees must be the same type), then if it not find , go forward with dummy, if it time passed, make unit return to hero, if dummy find, each 0.1 second move the hero toward that point saved as X and Y and make the trigger stop as the hero found close enought. oh and about the group, make special group that added untill the spell ends, then remove it.
