The Sphere

I have been working on this model on and off for some time now. It's a sphere but then it isn't. It's a type of golem, basically an stone orb that has been blessed with life through the ritual markings.

Credit, don't edit!

Changed the texture to make the outside a bit more rough. I don't want to make it too rough though since it's supposed to be a perfectly grinded sphere.
Also made some changes to the model itself. Changed the portrait camera, fixed some wrapping bugs and learned how normals work so that I could fix the illumination problem.

Looked up some tutorials on rock surfaces in gimp and actually managed to make something I think looks good but still following the theme.

This is really original and creative. Great custom animations as well, a big plus. Also, I actually kind of like the texture, feels much like clay to me. =)

Wow this is really awesome idea and interpretation, the only thing i don't like and would suggest is the texture. Why won't you make it on default(standart) textures? This would save half of space and give it a more warcraft-ish look. 4/5

I couldn't find a suitable texture for the runes since they were supposed to be Team colored. And then a modeler isn't complete if he can't make his own textures (no offence to anyone)

Somewhat feel that was directed at me :eekani:
Actually if you were working as a modeler in a company you would not do the texture yourself, you would not touch the textures at all, hell you have no say in what your doing anyway let alone what the texture looks like.
If you were a freelance modeler which most of us are, being incapable of doing your own texture does not make you an incomplete modeler. It takes a talent to do decent texture and that is why even if a modeler can do his own texture it would still be in his best interest to find someone who is more adequate.
That being said i would like to say that your model is very good, but your texture is very much lacking, using an ingame texture might have been a wiser choice, but you can add that team colored runes a different way.

Ps.I am not telling you to do anything though, just wanted to speak my mind.

I was actually referring to myself. I can't consider myself a complete modeler if I can't go through all the aspects of making a model.
I still think there is some skill in finding use of existing textures for various creative purposes.
Unfortunately I couldn't really add any shading to the texture since the parts face so many different angles. Simply shading the outside of the sphere would make it look really f****d while rolling.
