So, I've been away from WC3 for a while now. 15 years ago me and a friend did a few projects here: Fate ORPG - Yes, another RPG!

I've started a new RPG type map for reforged to sorta test my abilities again. This time its a random time event RPG with dungeons that require teamwork and a talent and ability system that gives you lots of hero customization. Please have a look and play it with friends. It's up to 7 players.


I've only finished up to about the level 25 area and 7 classes, but there is content that entire way. So Far, the map features:


-Save/Load system saves:
-Hero level, current XP
-Talent points
-Items
-Current Courier Skin
-All Quests
-Codeless Save and Load -- saves multiple heroes to disk
-Also enerates a text file in your CustomMapData with the code so you can transfer to other PC's


-Local Player damage text
-AutoParty system that groups you with nearby Heroes
-Local Player fading buildings (you can actually walk in buildings)
-Local Player loot - you can only see your own loot
-Everything can crit - damage, heals, spells
-Self-adjusting difficulty
-Item Carrier AI, autosend items too and from, catchup mechanic
-More I'm forgetting to list.


Please try it out, it's definitely a work in progress, but I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Just tested until reaching level 5 as a paladin.
- seems too grindy to even finish the first quests (murloc fin, troll axes)
- mana and health talent points (+25) are lacking in comparison to +str/+int, since you gain +3 str/int for one point - which translates into 21hp/mana + bonus reg
- real sized buildings add a nice touch

I think some events with dynamic outcomes could be nice, like rescue missions, or guarding a specific area.

The XP seems to be the consensus online as well. This is a pretty early version of the game, but i ended up double drop rate for the quest items, and doubling XP gain.

As for the dynamic outcomes, I've been putting a few of those in already. I don't know if you made it that far, but there is a level 10 boss that walks in a huge circle around the town. He's the source of the skeletons that are spawning to attack it.

So we tried to play the map as 3 people, but for some reason when we are picking our heroes the map keeps sending us back to the scoreboard. It seems to always happen when the timer goes to 9 seconds so the problem probably has something to do with that. Also, is there any discord server that we can join to give feedback directly and find groups?

Edit: Can't seem to save in singleplayer either

It was a desync, its been fixed. It was dropping all players because of a bad local player call. I'll drop the new version soon with all the changes. Thanks for you input. I don't have a discord, have a suggestion?

How much Content us currently available? We've been only able to finish two quests so far, Saving snowfall by killing the skeleton boss, and then Tomb of Balrog, by killing the balrog boss. Im unable to finish any other quest currently. Here's a couple issues I've noticed:

*The search party seems to start but once the npcs gather around the campfire nothing further happens.

*Each quest seems to get bugged once you finish another. For example once you beat the skeleton boss it says completed, but then once we would beat Balrog that quest says completed and the saving snowfall goes back to "in progress."

*Unable to find the vendor to reset skills and stats, It doesnt seem to exist.

*Each weapon orb also doesnt do the second effect. The crit/atk speed/experience orbs each one doesnt seem to work after testing numerous times with different scenarios.

*All of the balrog items have descriptions and tooltips that differ from when they are on the ground verse picked up.

*The druids passive level 20 gets messed up if you save the game in Bear form. The game loads you back in bear form but this time the +100 str goes to your normal form and the +100 int goes to your bear form.

*The druid seems to be the only character without a stat cap with points, our druid (level 25+) is still able to put all his points into strength when every other character maxed theirs out around 110-120.

*Upon beating balrog and unlocking the 6th slot for your pet, it works in the current game, but once you load, your pet has 0 open slots and only reverts back to 6 if you change pet skins.

*Once you hit the first lever in Balrogs tomb the gate closes and can never again be opened even if you clear all the bosses or die, there is no re-entering.

*The BIGGEST game-breaking little bug: You can only equip 1 item type on each character, however, if you fill your backpack the item goes back into your characters inventory and this way you're able to hold 6 of the same item type. For example I was able to run around with 6 Balrog's Ruby equipped.

*It'd be great if you could let us know what all is out so far content wise, for example we've killed the skeleton boss enough times to find its rare legendary weapon drop, but we still haven't found any legendary items off of Balrog (if they even exist at all).

Those are the main little things we've noticed so far, but my friends and I have really enjoyed the game so far and we certainly looking forward to more updates!

Dude, thanks for testing all that stuff. Did the second fight in tomb with the ghosts take a few tries? I'd like to get in a game with you all and hear your thoughts.

FIXED: Search party quest

FIXED: Quests getting bugged when completing others

FIXED: Balrog item tooltips

FIXED: Changed druid transformations to a entire new system, so this will no longer be an issue

FIXED: Pet slot loading/saving with quest reward

FIXED: Stacking Item types if your courier is full

With quests, I don't have all of them functioning yet, but if you click on your "Quests" ability, you can see the ones that are currently working.

ADDED: There has been a TON of stuff added since 1.0

AutoParty system -- shows nearby heroes names, health, mana on the left side of your screen
Codeless save and load -- no more load codes, saves hero to system file
Lots of items added and fixed
New hero class -- necromancer
Lots of spell cleanup and dynamic tooltips
Talent points -- new talents and reset works
New areas -- some of the level 20-30 stuff is still WIP
Lots of desync fixes, hopefully everything
Reworked building fading
Added lots of better/new notifications for quests, no more game text
Fixed the boss loot and monster loot desyncs, added more items per drops
Increased all bounty item drop rates, they now grant xp per stack
New button UI,
New Time of day UI

Lots more fixes I can't think of right now. Anywho, here's the newest version:

The new version looks great and the party UI is a really nice addition, on top of that the Druid player loves the new forms! Still found a few bugs however:

*No stone unturned, works great and gives rewards. Adds the robot battle afterwards which doesnt seem to do anything once you beat the other robot, they both just die, no rewards for that if its intentional.

*Search party now starts and works fine, however, it doesnt finish properly. It says "completed." And it gives you the 4% crit bonus while youre on the same map, however, it doesnt give you the quest highlight as if you complete it, it still stays blacked out and you lose the crit % upon starting a new map.

*Tomb of balrog no longer starts or even opens now, its now fully broken. **EDIT** Tomb of the balrog opened up finally at 3300 game time but when we killed him all our couriers bugged and all 6 slots instantly closed up and we lost every item inside.

*The second dungeon randomly opened its gate for us like an hour into the map, we have no idea what we did, but once you hit the lever nothing happens. the entrance just closes and you get trapped inside.

*No other quests work, they all seem to start but youre unable to do any of them. By 3300 game time every quest has been started but only 4 can be completed and only 3 give the completion achievement.

*Constant desyncs and crashes. The first map worked almost perfectly, we never got disconnected or crashed. The newest version we can barely have 2-3 people in the map and everyone else crashes out. That definitely needs to be fixed especially if players want to fight bosses. Also, and im not sure if its just a strange coincidence, but whoever chose to play as a Necro crashed anywhere from instantly to around 30mins in. They were never able to stay connected.

** Is there any way you could give us a list of quests and content that has been implemented so we can properly test it to see if it is working? Currently we are just running around exploring whats on the map but it IS possible we could be missing certain quest triggers.

Ok, I’ll work on fixing these tomorrow. So far only 4 quests are completely finished.

It’s hard for me to test desyncs in single player, but I’ll look into it and revert some changes.

second dungeon isn’t fully finished yet, only the boss fight is there.

Again, thank you for testing and giving detailed bug reports, really helps me narrow things down so I can fix them faster.

I’ll post a more detailed update tomorrow when I get back from work

No problem, we are really enjoying the map so we are more than willing to help test it all out! Also, is there any way you could add more save slots? We were thinking 1 slot for each class would make it so players can test out what they like and give the map a lot more replayability, just a thought. Thanks again for making such an awesome map.

Fixed the desync's and necro problems, here's an updated version.

I tested it on bnet was able to play a full 45 minutes with 6 people without anyone getting disconnected.

Awesome, the new map works great we havent had any desync issues now. We did just notice though, that even though now the Escort quest shows completed upon starting a new map, it doesn't give you the crit % bonus until you complete the quest again.

Awesome, the new map works great we havent had any desync issues now. We did just notice though, that even though now the Escort quest shows completed upon starting a new map, it doesn't give you the crit % bonus until you complete the quest again.

Well from what we've noticed, Notfuni the giant fat boss doesnt drop items. The triple ghosts boss doesnt drop items and the large Golem you fight in golem wars doesnt either. Adding boss drops to those would be a good idea. Also, even though the content goes to about 25-30, most of us are already level 40. Not sure if you wanted to add more levels later, but currently most of us are maxed. Besides that just adding the rest of the quests would be nice, we are interested in seeing the second dungeon bosses and all the ones beyond that, its be fun having to work as a team to finish all the content so far.

Updated: Lots of new stuff and bug fixes.
Reworked the main boss fights to give them a better AI

Quests that are "finishable" are marked with a (level) on the multiboard. Example "Save Snowfall (6+)"

Thanks again for the update! We noticed the inventories still arent working properly for us. All our inventories have 0 slots in them currently.

Hey!

So because of that bug in an older version, it corrupted your save code. I was able to fix it in 1.14 without resetting any codes. Next time you load in 1.14, save again and the bug will be absent from your new code/save file.

Also ended up doing a little video of some of the changes in 1.14. If ya'll want to try that wyvern fight, its in the top left corner. The area's not finished but I left it open for fun. Make sure you hit the first switch before you go in.
