"Awesomeness" comes out of your own creativity. There are no tutorials to draw like Picasso, no tutorials to be extremily awesome. If you have the potential to make decent terrains, you already should figure this out. The only thing you should know is how each tool in Warcraft III works (from terraining till all doodad models).
Once you are given certain models, creativity increases, so it's up to you to make up a great world in there.
You can start off:
http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/...ezs-complete-terraing-tutorial-v1-0-a-114203/ -> It teaches you the basic tools of the World Editor's terrain palette.

http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/terrain-board-267/the-ultimate-terraining-map-3-0-a-45316/ -> The Ultimate Terraining Map. A map with a bunch of custom models to choose from; once you come along with them, you will get some ideas.

http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/terrain-board-267/miscdata-txt-terraining-hac-32419/ -> A custom file and a way to override the current limitations of World Editor (useful in terraining)

http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/terrain-board-267/legendary-terrains-65435/ -> A list with "legendary"-called terrains, to get an idea as well.

http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/terrain-board-267/for-those-just-beginning-to-terrain-39423/ -> A newbie guide on terraining stuff.

As for the writing part, again, no one can be taught to become Paolo Coelho. You either have it or not. You can get ideas from World of Warcraft and manipulate some parts to your preferable lore: http://www.wowwiki.com/Portal:Main
