uhhh, by looking at blood ? see how it looks, and then change the blood on your skin, obviously.
And no, don't look for a cheap shortcut, do it the hard way.

Anyways, the "blood way" works for anything. Just look at some pics of it (material you're going for), and try to imitate them.
