Helloes Hive Workshop

I just finished every important function in my map leaving me to simply add heroes, units, spells and other fun stuff like that. I was pretty eager to do it all and so I begun. I wanted to save a Camera to a hashtable, couldn't find any function like it in my jCraft, so I started looking for it in WE. But I forgot that sometimes, when trying to use these weird SaveSOMETHINGBJ, WE simply crashes. And so it did.

Well, I got kinda irritated, but heck, WE loads in three seconds, so why worry? I opened my map and suddenly an imported model doesn't work. I have two things imported for now - a unit and a missile. The later works, the former does not. I tried everything, from deimporting the model and turning off WE, then importing it again, downloading the model again didn't work either. Then I saw that NO unit model works. Simply WE can't load any .mdl file. I am close to Rage Quitting and reinstalling Warcraft 3 and I would probably do so, but in case it doesn't work either... any ideas, pease?

@EDIT: Just so you know, reinstalling did nothing.

I also did forget to mention that this affects all my maps, for some reason.

Simply WE can't load any .mdl file
Even the standard ones? This is very strange as it means that WE is still loading the MPQs, just not parsing any of the models (as it is still parsing all the logical files from the MPQ).

Have you checked your WC3 graphic settings (in game or in the editor preferences). It might be they are corrupt and causing it to try and load non-existent models. You can delete the entries in the registry using regedit and the game client should rebuild them. Make sure all visual settings are maxed as some times certain assets may not load at lower visual settings.

By "any .mdl" I meant the imported ones.

I found a solution, it was the most trivial - restart of the CPU... T.T

So you reinstalled the game before restarting the PC?!

Anyway it sounds like a WC3/WE related process was still running and as such some files were locked causing problems with the models. Open Task Manager, go to process tab and then view all processes (need admin permission to use button). Look for anything WC3 related and terminate the process. The OS (modern OSes) has automatic handle garbage collection whereby on process shutdown it will forcefully close all handles the process allocated. This should remove all file locks.

Yeah, kinda supid of me, I know. I simply didn't think it could happen.

And I have WC3 downloaded from Blizzard site, reinstalling it takes like a minute, and this sound, when it is installed is kinda cool.

And thanks for the ideas for the future.

Cheers!
