Spells Forum Posting and Submitting Rules:

Below you will find the rules regarding posting messages in the Spells Forum and submitting resources to the Spells Section. Please take a moment to review these:

If you find a post or resource that violates these rules, then please PM Vexorian or Daelin.

1) Posting Rules
• Posting threads on questions already addressed in the Spells FAQ is just a waste of space. Do it too many times and something bad will happen to you. The exception to this is that if you didn’t understand the answer in the FAQ. If this is the case, then you should indicate so in your post.
• If you are posting a request, then you should indicate so in the topic. If you find that the title of your topic has been changed, this is probably why.
• Don't start threads to advertise your own spells. People will see if you submit or update a spell next time they come online (New Resources/Modified Resources)
• Don't start threads which have a request for a specific user (example: "Vexorian please help me"). If you feel like you have a request for a certain user, PM him/her.

2) Submitting Rules
• The user who posts the spellmap is directly responsible for it (regardless if he isn't the author of the map, if the map is a requst pack or any other reasons) and so, he or she will be penalized if the map breaks the rules.
• Don't post more than two consecutive spells. Instead, put them all in the same map, if possible. Minimum time before the next submission: 48 hours.
• If your spell is made in WEU or other custom world editor please mention it by creating a new comment or entering into the map description.
• Don't steal! Stealing is punished with a warn and the map deletion, no matter what. If you didn't save the map, that's too bad.
• You are to post the spells into the appropriate sections as following:

JASS Enchanced - If your map includes only JASS spells.
Miscellanous - If your map includes both JASS and GUI spells or GUI with Custom Script actions.
Normal Spells - If your map includes only object editor spells. Please notice that they must be extremely good object editing to be accepted. Check "what is not accepted" for more info.
Systems - Maps which include only systems (not standalone spells)
Trigger Enchanced - If your map includes only GUI spells.
Hero contest cattegory - CLOSED cattegory since the hero contest has ended. Posting here will result in an immediate warn.

Note: Don't post both systems and spells in the same map. If the spells are made purely to demonstrate the system, then post the map in systems category, but that's the only they are accepted.

What is accepted:
• Spells made using ideas from other games
• Spells whose ideas have already been posted on the site
• Modified versions of spells already submitted on this site, provided that the original author has consented to this.

What is not accepted:
• Spells where ONLY the art, icon, several fields in the object editor and/or name has been changed
• Useless spells. This means that spells which can practically not be used, either because they cannot be balanced, Freeze the game in a massive way that make it unplayable or just because their effect is stupid.
• Spells that can’t be tested in game as they are. If I have to modify a trigger, change a path, etc. in order to be able to use the spell in the testing map, then it will be deleted.
• Spells that kill units but do not credit the player that casted the ability. Unless it is stated that they are supposed to not be credited.
• Spells that are stolen from other sites or users
• Spell maps that are not directly openable in World Editor. The spells are posted on the site so that others can learn from it and use them into their maps. Simple showoffs are prohibited and will be punished accordingly. The only exception are spells that may require another "Editor" to be openned (For example WEU), in that case make sure to specify that it is required.
• Spells that cannot be imported into other maps. Using specific units in your coding or specific players (in this case in such a way that the spell always works only for that player) is against the rules.
• Spell maps that have so much imported stuff they take more than 500KB , In case the spell only has small imports (like less than 10Kb) and it has a big size due to big map script/ triggers are still allowed.
• Spell maps that contain any imported sound. To prevent copyright issues.
• Spell maps that contain someone else's spell (This is only valid for trigger/JASS spells cause object edited spells are often always the same and are owned by blizzard)

Imports Rules
• You may include models, skins, icons, loading screens from other people.
• If the original author sends a complaint to a moderator about you using his resource there without any permission to submit to Spells Section, or if you didn't credit the author correctly. The Spell Will be deleted and You will be banned.
• As stated above imports shouldn't increase the map's size too much. 500KB is the limit.

Screenshot:
• Screenshot is not mandatory
• If you post a screenshot, it must be ingame.
• You are not allowed to post fanarts as screenshots.

Resubmitting/Updating:
• You are allowed to delete your old submission and submit an updated version of your spell when it has fallen below the first 75 submissions and is more than a month old. This must be a critical update; don't just change one thing and submit it in order to keep your spell on the top.
• If you are unsure wheter your resubmission is critical or not, contact Daelin.
• If you are unable to update your spell and have to resubmit, then mention so in a comment in that spell.
• Users that resubmit spells in violation of these of these rules will have their submission deleted, be warned, and will be prohibited from resubmitting that resource for a week.
• You shalt not submit a spell map again if it was deleted due to rule breaking and you didn't changed the map to follow the rules. In case you do this you will be banned.

The following are not required, but help to make your map better:
• Include methods to help with testing your spell in your map. These consist of, but are not limited to: a way to revive your hero, a way to heal your hero, Creeps, and friendly units.
• Submit a screenshot with your spell. People are more likely to download your spell if they know what they’re getting. A tutorial for capturing and adding screenshots is located here.
• Delete the Melee Initialization triggers in your map; they often cause problems while testing.
• Change the name of your map. Don’t leave it as “Just another Warcraft III map,” or people will assume that's what it is.

3) Requests Rules
• Since some users may request spells that are not in conformation with the rules, you are allowed to post spells that are not in conformation with the rules, except those below.
• You are not allowed to post stolen spells, or spells which import resources without the permission of the author, spells with imported sounds or spell maps which contain other people's spells. Consecutivity submittions rule also applies separately for rules and normal maps.
• All requested maps are to be deleted in a week. If you do not do so, you will be penalized.
• The name of the submitted map must be of the form "Request - User's name requesting the spell". Example: Request - Panto. If there is more than one user, make sure the map's name contains atleast "Request" and that you add in the description for who you made the request. If the map's name doesn't have this pattern it will not be considered as a request and will be treated as a normal spell, and with the rules of a non-request map.
• You are not to mix both selfmade and requested made spells into the same map. However, if you do so, the map should still be deleted in a week.

Note: You can still post requested spells maps as a normal spells, but then they must follow all the rules mentioned in chapter 2. The advantage of such submittion is that the map won't be deleted after a week, but rules are more strict.
