I downloaded a spell and imported it. What I can't do is get it to work. I checked the sticky up top but it didn't have anything that helped. Can anyone help me out? Thanks.

I used the Cimantic Fire Spell. I am a novice to adding spells. I might as well ask, is there any tutorials for this? If not can someone explain to me how you add spells to a map? Thanks again. :(

Ummm...how does taking a screen shot tutorial help me with spells?o.0

Ooops... SOrry... I forgot it was for something like that. Ok, I will tell you shortly how to do that.

1) Copy-paste all spells related to that spell into your own map. This means that you will need to click on the spell you want, select Ctrl+C (Copy), go to your map and select Ctrl+V (Paste). Do this with every spell related to that spell. Hope you understood by here.

2) Copy-paste the BUFFS related to the spell into your map, along with all the units related to that spell.

3) Copy all the triggers related to the spell into the map. This means that you have to go to the trigger editor and copy-paste all the triggers related to the spell into your map. You will need to do it again one by one.

NOTE: TO find out the related stuff to the spell, you will need to check the trigger. In it you will see which spells are used in it, which units etc.

4) Checking the RAW code
This is very important for most of the spells. You may already have other spells/units/buffs into your map which might mess up the raw code. In order to solve this, you need to enter into your trigger, and take every action/condition/event in which the units and abilities have been used and change them appropriately. This may take some time but it's the only way.
Also, check the units which already have spells and make sure that they have the appropriate spells. Compare these things with the original map.
For the spells, check the buff and effect of the spell and change them again appropriately if you must.

5) Miscellanous - This is the last part. If there are any models, sounds and so on related to the spell, export them somewhere and reimport them in your map with the import manager.

Hope this helped you dude! I am afraid this is the best I can do. I know it may seem difficult but post other questions here.

:!: Ok, let me get this straight...What exactly do you mean copy the stuff realated to the spell into my map? So far all I've got done is import the spell itself. This is slightly confusing to me >.<
Sorry if I'm acting noobish but this is my first time working spells. Thanks for the help daelin.

Ok... What don't you understand? The stuff related to the spell? What i mean by that is other spells used by certain units to create the effect of hte spell. For example, to make an auto-castable sleep you will need to base it on a spell which is already auto-castable but with no effect, just to make it look like the caster would cast the spell. What he does is lose mana points, and have a target+ icon but no effect. You can base it on slow let's say with no reduction and so it just sets the target, drains mana from the caster and initiates the spell. To make the actual sleep you will need to give it to an invisible unit that belongs to the caster itself and that casts the sleep towards the Target Unit Ability Being Cast to create the spell effect. For more info, you should check some spell which has a dummy unit. Try... http://www.wc3sear.ch/index.php?p=Spells&ID=282&sid=1e8c715a378b65634aa2a062bac9f11b . Hope this gives you an idea about dummy units. :D Once you know how spells actually work you can import them as well.
