This idea may have possibilities as a min-contest here in this forum. The post obviously requires further development before it could possibly become an official contest.

It will be up to brad to decide whether or not to supervise it, I'm sure that he'll be on later with further critique/information.

Well.... I don't know. I'm not exactly sure what the entire purpose of this contest is. As well, you are asking people to download a song through illegal means, and to acquire a program that allows you to access media files in an illegal manner. This is definetly a no-no. In the future, this contest idea *may* be revised and resubmitted, but for now it is a 'no'. It would have been better for you to submit the contest idea, and then have myself or an admin work out the details and an appropriate theme. All contests should be in some way related to Warcraft III, so I don't really see how 'ruins' and death/heavy metal really have any relation to said game.

Limewire isn't illegal, I don't think you understand the recording business. Pirating is illegal, limewire isn't.

In the United States, I'm pretty sure it is. It's not exactly that way in all countries.

But you shouldn't need to make them download anything for a contest. In writing, all you should need is a subject/guideline and that's it, then you write.

For the purposes of these forums it is. Limewire can be used to obtain illegal media, so therefor it is illegal. You do not discuss it, provide links, or really have anything to do with it while you are on THW.

Yes, but you can do many other things with the internet, and its sole purpose is not to share illegal media. You can take it up with the United States justice system if you want, the RIAA is suing Limewire right now, and they're winning as usual.

Oh yes it is. Obtaining a media file through a file-sharing service is illegal. You are acquiring this media without paying for it first, therefor it is stealing.

That's completely untrue, Uploading is illegal, downloading is not. Think about it for a second, if 5,000,000 people download a song, do you think the cops are going to track down those people and arrest them all? No, they're looking for the guy who illegally uploaded the song.

BOTH are illegal. When you upload, you make media available for people to steal! YOU are the one offering up the stolen goods, and that is definetly illegal. Why do you think there are no websites that host content that limewire shares? Because it's illegal, and website rules are much more firmly defined, so they get shut down very very quickly.

Stop arguing with the mod and just remake your contest into something better that doesn't require any downloading. I don't see why it should anyways, this is a WRITING forum, not a sound forum. You can always link to LYRICS, those are free to see and print out.

Don't remake the contest, yet. Unless you can find a way to make it Warcraft themed. All contests have to be warcraft themed in some way. If you are going to write lyrics (which do belong in the writing section because that's what they are) then you must do it right. If I feel that this contest is good enough, *I* will resubmit it and oversee it.
