Yes.I don't understand,and that's why I'm asking.When I open WorldEdit,when I try to open a map(which has special units & stuff-for example DotA's heroes)pops up an error and WorldEdit closes.Is that because I haven't got the templates of the heroes and the other stuff or why?;because I tried with 2-3 other maps that have custom stuff and the result is the same.\
Please somebody answer

Protecting a map is basicly corrupting a part of the file code, making WE crash whenever it tries to open it.
Map editors do this to prevent others from editing their maps without their permission.
 
Also, when protecting a map, NOBODY can open it -not even the original creator. So if you ever want to protect one of your own maps, make sure you create backups.
