Someone help me on how to make models and skins plz!

im confused here. i heard from a friend that u make models by using a paint program then some one tells me u have to find a model disck or somethin so if anyone knows plz tell me how i can make custom models.

you make skins by using a paint program, but you need a modelling program for models, don't confuse those two
