Skin Submission Rules

  1. Compliance: No texture file may violate any Hive Workshop site rules.

  2. 75% Modification: A skin must be modified at least 75% from the original in order to to be approved.

  3. Original Work: Textures not created by the submitter are prohibited. If users make a skin inspired by a particular texture, full credit must be given to the original author.

  4. Shading: Shading must be appropriate on the skin and look correct in-game.

  5. Copy and Paste: No CnP from existing custom skins is permitted. A maximum of 25% CnP from default Blizzard textures may be acceptable, providing that the skin is well executed.

  6. Recolors: Recolored skins may be accepted, but only if the rest of the skin follows the above rules.
    • Note: CnP & recoloring cannot be used on the same texture (for instance, having 25% CnP & 25% recolor (50% total) wouldn't be allowed, but the total of 25% would be).

  7. Approval: Resource moderators will decide on a case-by-case basis which skins are original or useful enough to be approved.
    • If rejected, the moderator must detail why the submission is unacceptable.
This document is subject to future revision and/or amendment.

Any questions/comments/crits about the rules?
Shoot some questions at me
All Hive Workshop members are encouraged and welcome to participate in this important discussion. However, between Archian and yourself most of the bases seem to be fully covered.

Some adjustments to this set of rules may be made if valid, constructive input is received from our community.

The above rule set is now official and has been included in the Hive's FAQ:

Community > FAQ > THW Rules > Skin Rules

On behalf of the entire site, Id like to thank THE_END and Archian for developing these important rules.

Future amendments and / or revisions may continue to be discussed by our community in this thread.
