Show inventory when selling only units

When buying items, the inventory is shown. When there's only units, no inventory is shown. How to avoid this? I circumvented it by having one item, but that item wouldn't get bought if inventory is full so I really could use some help.

Make the item a powerup, like a tome of experience.
Voilá! You can buy it when you have full inventory.
