Map Information

An alternate melee in my series of maps involving lore races from the Warcraft universe. This addition allows the players to explore and play as the mystical Shadowmoon Clan, prior to the demonic corruption.

The Shadowmoon Clan is a community of visionary star-callers and primal shamans, guided by the shifting patterns of the celestial bodies. Their people are deeply spiritual and disciplined, excelling in mana manipulation and the summoning of ancient spirits. Mastery over the heavens is complemented by the enigmatic powers of their Ritebearers, who channel the weight of the stars to bolster their kin. Their forces thrive on tactical spellcasting and calculated endurance, growing in lethality as they align with the cosmic cycle. Above all, the Shadowmoon embody wisdom, tradition, and an unbreakable bond with the lunar mysteries of the night.

How to Play

To play as the Shadowmoon Clan, choose Orc at 90% Handicap during game setup.
Same for Computer AIs.

Version 1.02
  • Added Dark Star Protection. An initial defense that allows mains to strike nearby random enemies around it, with more damage dealt with more Ritebearers around.
  • Removed unnecessary assets to reduce file size.
  • Fixed Crystal Reliquary not losing its effect after unloading.
  • Small general fixes.

Shadowmoon Clan v1.02 (Map)

Honestly, I was expecting the Zandalari faction to be released before the Shadowmoon Clan faction.

Playing the Shadowmoon Orcs before the Fel corruption as a faction looks exciting.

The Astral Alignment mechanic, which increases the effect of spells and abilities, is definitely one of the features I like. I'm quite curious to know which effects of spells and abilities it increases (cast range increase, manacost reduction, area of effect increase, cooldown reduction, spell amplification, debuff duration amplification etc.).

This is a faction worthy of Ner'zhul. I like how you explore the clan in a pre-corruption state, deeply rooted in shamanistic ideals and with a special connection to the stars.

Astrology and ancestor worship are the main themes here, and you've captured them perfectly in an Orc faction that doesn't rely on brute force, but that won't hesitate to annihilate you using their powerful elemental and astral connection.

Maybe if I delay them long enough someone will make a proper building set for them.
Your building set on Media looks really good. Why not consider using them?

Is it because those buildings feature too many cloth or wooden textures?

Something about me, I like making the more obscure factions. And I've been wanting to make them for a while but lacked models.

Its a phenomenal building set but it just doesn't scream Zandalari. Its more fitting for a sort of regular Jungle Troll faction.
 
So this is what an Orc clan is like before Gul'dan, while my Stormreavers are very much after Gul'dan.

It's like a side-by-side comparison of people's lungs in anti-smoking campaigns, or one of those anti-drug PSA's 😅

Don't do fel, kids. Not even once. I'll need to be stealing some of your ideas for my own Stormreavers >:)
 
Not anytime soon, but probably after because it would fit better with BaiyuGalan, Jiok building set for them.
Nice! Let me know if you want any of the resources from mine if you have any difficulty opening the map, I think if you're using GrapesOfWrath GUI Extender you should be fine to grab some stuff yourself, but if you aren't, I can just send you what you want 😊

You and Winter love that GUI extender huh? What makes it so much better than base GUI?
 
Just want to confirm something, how does the Crystal Reliquary ability that gives Astral Alignment work for units beside Ritebearer? I am confused if it meant to increase Astral Alignment or reduce cost or what, regarding the aura from Crystal Reliquary with caster inside. The way I understand it, only Ritebearer would benefit from the aura increasing their astral alignment output, but I might be misunderstanding something

While on that, any unit beside Ritebearer can regenerate Astral Alignment?

Ritebearers generate charges passively but the player also generates it by dealing damage to enemies, any player unit. The Crystal Reliquary aura increases the percentage of the damage dealt that is counted towards gaining a charge threshold. Gaining charges faster through combat.
