the how 2 apply a skin 2 a model so that it looks correctly (like the texture part of the hand is on the hand and not @ the face) is a very interesting question, i am also after the answer 2 it, i have heared that some use a program called LithUnwrap to uwrap and wrap their models. maybe this is what u r looking 4, it was not exactly what i wanted but maybe it's usefull 4 u....eventually Biturn does similar work but i don't know much of their use

definatly not... Biturn is just a converter.
And ontopic:
Do you already have unwrapped the model in 3ds max and you're asking how to export it correctly or do you want to know how to unwrap a model in 3ds max?
