Yeah I saw them and I wonder what the fck is going on with this world? Arabs protests, in this area Greece protests, Romania protests, Macedonia had what and what not, it's an island of peace here.

Seriously...
Weird crap, made dangerous by the fact that I live in the same region as the last three, and I can't come back home because the Euro looks like it's gonna blow

I have a Romanian friend and studied the Romanian president for lulzery, and in truth he's an ass or just a retard. Seriouesly how did this dude even win the election? He does almost deny anything the people says and act as an asshole to the people.

Frankly I'm not sure how these scandals are going to end up, but I don't think it will make much of a difference. I guess we'll see... today the president gave a public response to the protests - in which he pretty much ignored the protests' subjects and focused on criticizing pretty much every one of his colleagues in a generic, pompous manner (parliament & government included of course). A big fluffy waffle completely besides the point... Classic technique through which you attempt to avoid becoming "the enemy of the people", and instead be seen as "part of the people".

Well, since I live in Romania and have been closely following the events in the political life, I can shine some light on the subject.

The current president by the name of Traian Basescu has been chosen because at the time (in 2004) he was a much lesser of two evils. In 2009 he was re-elected again because he stole a lot of votes in the country, and a lot of votes from romanians who live in other countries (like Spain, Italy, France, etc).

His policy is simple, he blames everything on communism, and that anyone who opposes him are in one way or another a communist. The prime-minister has been elected by the president and is nothing more than a puppet. Actually the entire government are puppets of this president. The president has taken control of most of the written and televised press, including our national television. He is doing this in order to maintain power, so he can steal money from the national budget. Because the european funds cannot be stolen (I guess because of how they are given out) the president Basescu has indebted Romania to the International Monetary Fund, in 3 years by more money than in 19 years after comunism fell.

So finally, after many years, because of one free television in Romania, which has continuously analyzed and showed the truth behind what the current government is doing, which is now affiliated to CNN, the romanian people have begun to openly protest on the streets.

The government tried to intimidate and discredit the protestants, to show them as simple hulligans, by placing undercover agents in order to provoke riots. Because of this, old people were beaten, innocent people were beaten, the police forces were extremely forceful and savage.

What is there to say, although a great cold has started in Romania which has never been seen in the past 50 years here, people are still protesting peacefully across the cities of Romania.

Our crysis has nothing to do with what happens in Greece, Italy, Egypt or anywhere else, it's about the people of a country, who have been tired of being treated like stupid people by their own government. It's not much that now a lot of people live poorly, as it's about the president and puppet government not showing any kind of respect to the people who they represent.

We now want the president and the government to quit on their positions and start anticipated elections, so we can elect a new president and a new government.

Similar picture here except people here don't protest and that's wrong because see the Greeks protest all the time, this is how people's voice should be heard. Maybe because speaking of hooligans people here are afraid.

We had protests years ago that ended with lots of people beaten up by the police. I saw some videos of abuse by the US police where they treat and bully people guilty or not, just suspected guilty in awful way. Well we've got the same - police kicking in the door on the wrong address, beating innocent people, then 'Oh wrong address', sometimes wondering are they people of the law or criminals themselves. So yeah usually people are afraid to protest much. Except for our laws aren't obeyd much and still we've got cruel police like in the US, we should've got at least their laws where the real criminals don't get released from prison after 2 weeks with explanation from the corrupted court 'Not enough evidence...'

Yes also bought/paid votes is normal here too usually by the socialist parties who failed to win another mandate - duh the corruption they showed was enough, now pointing a finger at the center and right that they're buying votes. I'd say both wings are corrupted and buying votes, politicians are all the same. I feel you, such political systems are a joke.
