rle problem

Fortune hates me or im just noob. I downloaded one of the programs that converts icons and it worked wonderfull on some icons i saved as .bmp to test as it only works on bmp and tga. But. As i wanted to be able to convert the whole big batch of icons i have (14xx) i downloaded some image converters which screwed up something with my photos or so. The problem is that now my comp always sees all bmp files as rle files and i cant do anything about it! (Yes, pictures even hay the BMP picture on laoding but in "Property" they are always Rle) The worst thing is that i cant now convert any single of them cause no matter what i do all bmp pictures are automaticly rle!!! Can someone help me or tell me where i can get help?
