Removing parts of model from Skin

Hey guys, I've been editing the Fallen King Arthas skin and are currently trying to remove the horns from the crown. I think I've found the part of the skin that corresponds to them but somehow when I import it into my map he still has the spikes on the crown. I've been able to alpha out other parts like the circles on the crown itself connecting the spikes to the body of the crown.

The alpha layer on the left edge is the part I've removed but as we can see:

The spikes still turn up.
