'ello, my name is Redeemer59. I came here because I've always been kind of a noob at the editor and I wanted to find a few guides on how to improve. So then I had some questions that I didn't find a tutorial for, and couldn't find some models I was looking for, and so I signed up here.

My current projects are:

Lair of the Dark Messiah (Alpha) - Dungeon crawl map, inspired by Molten Core, but with an ice/undead theme rather than a fire/volcano theme. Yeah, I know it isn't that original, but it'll have a *gasp* plot, and cinematics if I figure them out.

Forest Troll Tribes (Pre-Alpha) - Survival, based off of Island Troll Tribes. You're one of three tribes of up to three forest trolls each with a selection of classes that specialize in different things. There is a human town on the map which you can either be friendly with and trade for items and food, or you can kill and get their phat lewts the hard way.

Imperial Castle Defense (Beta) - Castle Defense/Hero Siege without a wave-structure. Basically, you choose a hero and defend the Citadel in the middle of the base that's under constant attack by hordes of demons. You improve only through tomes and items, there is no leveling up. The final boss is a tribute to Lovecraftian horror: Cthulhu! It's very simple and I hope to add a handicap and wave structure in the future. Is playable, but has many bugs.

Thinking of doing:

Taking Warcraft Maul and balancing it out, removing the english errors, and generally make it worth playing.

A Darwins-Island sort of map taking place entirely underwater with many different aquatic creatures.

3 or even 4 way AoS type map. Probably 3 way. The paths would connect the bases to the one on their left and right, as well as a sort of "peace" symbol in the middle.

Welcome to The Hive Workshop!

Welcome Redeemer59. Zowie: that's a lot of projects! Feel free to start a thread in the Map Development forum to display your work and get critique and feedback.

The Hive includes many talented Warcraft III modders (map and resource editors) of all skill levels among its users. New members (especially friendly ones) are always welcome. Take a look around and enjoy your stay, may it be long and productive!

Some good places to start include:Searching the site using the above link always helps, you can learn a lot that way: just reading and learning is usually the best place to start, especially if one feels overwhelmed.

Likewise, the tutorials can really teach ALL of us a thing or two.

The chat room is cool: lots of people can answer questions there.
  • A few other tips that might help too:
    • Always search first! Did I already mention THAT?
    • When creating a new thread, make the title VERY specific: so the site's search engine (and we users) can easily understand just what the thread contains.
    • Post your new threads in the proper forum: read the descriptions of each one so that you know what to post there.
    • If all else fails, just send me a private message! I'll try to do whatever I can to help.
