Briarborne (Icon)

Razormane Ram (Icon)

Razormane Thornweaver (Icon)

Razormane Archer (Icon)

The man just cannot be stopped. 😤

As always, lovely work & kudos for complementing an existing set of custom assets. I adore the Briarborne icon; it's simply perfect. I'm a little cooler on the Archer & Thornweaver; good but a little, eh, "wonky"? Especially the poor Thornweaver 😅. Still, very good to have them.
Thanks! I tried my best 👍

A small discussion. I think it's def better than

At least I believe so 🫠

The Thornweaver has more tribal patterns that are also highlighted from the model so you can better see that he is a shaman. I made him closer to this dude style-wise (screenshot+paint over):

Here I tried to go in line with the Archer:

Somehow more cartoonish but has the vibes?
Gnoll Archer is chuckling quietly from around the corner

Just look how different pigs are lul

And I think this is all media we have? 🤔 As I mentioned in this post, we can only "swim" between these styles till I get a 100 lvl skill.

Yeah there's not a lot to go on, and you definitely captured their personality in the icons. I just think they both have the same problem: the snout is bent strangely, creating a weird sort of curvature that (especially in the Thornweaver) lends them a pretty "wonky" look.

(& I totally understand how this might've happened; they're pig-men, they have long pig snouts, and you have to find some way to fit that into the tiny space of the icon. But you can see in the "Spirit Pig" comparison that the snout is basically straight (looks like they might've done some foreshortening?), it all fits in there without having to bend.)

Always glad to hear that! 😌

So as the models, man, so as the models. I understand now what you are talking about, and their facial geometry is heavily based on the references, especially around some spots. In addition, some pigs' noses move, so this can also be referred to in case of minor inaccuracies. Perhaps I could resort to a more artistic expression of the object?

In this case, surprisingly for me, I didn't really bend them, I only changed the tilt of the whole head. I also had to finish drawing the cheekbones due to their absence and slightly space the eyes, because the bridge of the nose is the edge of an acute triangle.

Galendor also pointed at that and asked me to improve a few proportions.

... I had no idea that was what they actually geometrically looked like. 👀 Well then I have a lot more understanding for your icons; you were just following the mesh. 😅

I suppose I'll just say, then, that indeed this might be the time for a little more "artistic expression"; straightening out the noses (& perhaps widening the eyes (and removing the pupils? do icons usually do that? 🤔) of the lighter one) would look much better, in my opinion.

Hehe, considering the pupils, I offered variations without them, but Galendor decided to take variations with pupils, I guess that's because Bliz Razormane icons contain them, but he didn't mention.

Yes, indeed!
Besides, as I understand Blizzard's approach, the only faction that mostly missed pupils is the Horde. In most other cases, if the model has pupils, so is the icon. Sometimes the icon has pupils even if the model hasn't (knight, for example).
