[Project] - RPG-Engine and Sample-AOS

So, here i am again, this time talking about an idea of meself.
I have thought about creating a RPG for a long time yet, but i haven't ever done the whole thing. I have aborted ( or have been desserted ) everytime i have tried before.
Therefore i have this time started the project on me own, only requesting some help whenever i needed some. ( there are still a few posting somewhere around this forum because of that reason ^^ )
Right now i have ( nearly ) finished the basics of my RPG-Engine ( i am doing an engine instead of a stand-alone rpg because i have to many different rpg-ideas and because i want to see some real rpgs instead of all this hack'n'slay stuff )

But back to topic.
I have now finished the first version of me map ( only triggers, no terain or customizes yet ) and want to now what you think about it.
You may download it here.
I will update this map whenever i finished an important part, but it won't be regularly ( i am still a student ^^ )

i want you to tell me
- what you think about me ( already done ) idea
- anything i should change/improve
- anything you thought when test-playing my map.

but pleas keep in mind that
- this map ought to be "realistic" ( low hp, heroes equal to creeps but with abilities, ... )
- this is an alpha version and therefore still under development
- i am primary doing the triggers -> everything else has to wait until they are done.

I will gladly read anything you'll say, whether it is good or not.

well i don't have much to say besides changing gender is an odd property of these people

(picked up bow as normal female, dropped it, turned into a guy)


this 'RPG engine' seems to be mostly the spellbook system and the invx system :s

Yeah, but thats only because i haven't done more than one profession ( boughable at the zitadelle ) and one spell yet.
The rest is comming soon. ( as soon as i have finished the two or three remaining triggers ^^ ).
There is a system of "Pathes" each path has two oposing side ( dark/light, fire/water, ..., 7 all together ). These Pathes are changed into a certain direction by doing something in favor of one of its sides ( summoning a skeleton = dark increases & light decreases, heal = light increases & dark decreases )
I have also done a few changes like "only one weapon", "ranged weapons provide ranged attack", etc.

you see, it's more then simply InvX and a spellbook system, even though the spellbook system is an important part of it ( i haven't included InvX -.- -> didn't work with me path 1.17 )

But as you can see, there is a whole bunch of changes and improvments. ( even a requirement system for spells and items ^^ )

i will even add a "crafting system" and a "needs system" ( hunger, thirst, sleep ) but these two have to wait until i finished the rest of the map...

if you look at the triggers you'll see a proof of what i said...

i know, i looked at the triggers before i ran the map :p

i only said that, because, not to insult you or anything, but everything besides the spellbook stuff looks really simple to do

but don't let me stop ya, its good to make your own system of stuff

ah ^^ i agree at that
it's totaly simple. but it's suposed to be simple ( why the heck should i make something more complicated than i have to? )
anywy i wonder why no one else has done anything like this before and therefore i am trying to make this engine so that anyone can use it to create his/her own rpg without thinking much about the engine and concentraiting more on the storyline ^^

it seems like some haven't understood me entirely.
I am sorry ( i truly am ) if some think i have simply stolen the idea.
I've been fascinated by pnp rpgs for over 5 years now and have already tried several times to create own ones. ( at first only pnp, but later auch mmo ).
By the time i had started my first wc3-script i had never been on this site or on any other wc3-mapping page. I havn't even been in bnet by that time ( only LANs which have shown me the possibilities of we )
Bacouse i had no xp in mapping o in triggering ( except from programming ^^ ) i have failed a few times.
Now i have been searching for a free usable, easy and realistic rpg-engine to use within a campaign. But i haven't found a single one which could give me only the half of the things i have wanted. therefore i have now again started to create my own one.
This AOS-map is only created to show what i am up to and what i have already implemented into my rpg-engine. It's a testingground for meself.

i hope that helps you to understand what i have been trying to do.

PS:
i have testplayed the map and haven't found it that interesting... Sry, it looks like a lot of work and such, but i am not satisfied with you result and anyway it's not free usable and therefore not even close to what i have been looking for...

About engine.. you want same D&D system as at NWN or Baldur or Icewindale.
Look for a map Calim's River here (map page 5 - 10 )
there you'll find what you want.
