Magos Model Editor still works, you just need to provide those .mpqs where it expects them (like most other tools unnecessarily broken by blizz).
Retera's Matrix Eater should work afaik.

gmax/3ds max with the blinky boy plugin also works great, but can't import very well.

Indeed, you need to help out Magos by providing the MPQ files for it.

MdlVis still works fine for me, try to put the .mpq files in the same folder and it should be able to load textures.
