well it seems to be a wc3 mod, that means that everyone must have the mod to play a map bigger than 8MB via battle.net

Best thing is to wait for an update on the Warcraft 3 patch because Mods.... you cant actually trust some of them. And it requires all shoud have the mod.

I don't see Blizzard releasing any new versions for Warcraft 3. Looks like 1.26 was the last. Warcraft 3 is dying and they have other newer projects to suport. I hope I'm wrong though.

Well, that's the bad news about Blizzard, they're more attracted on other projects that they dont even make an update on their old games like Warcraft 3. And they should make an update because Warcraft for me is the only remaining old games of Warcraft that is popular. So, only thing to do is to hope for more version. But I did see a site about the news on the patch 1.27, they said it has lots of updates over 1000 updates. Hopefully they will include their the MB limit...

Like mentioned above, its all about money. Thats the only reason why Blizzard, as a business, makes games. Patches cost money. So, if Blizzard beleives that a new patch wont make more people buy the game, then they will simply not patch it. If they beleived that a new patch will attract more customers, they will patch it. I think the latter is the case though. The only time this is not the case, is if the game has serious bugs in it, they will have to patch it to ensure they have met the customer's satisfaction. Can't remember the name of the law sorry.

Be realistic. A new patch is not going to bring in new customers and increase the playerbase. Only an expansion would be big enough to do that. Money, money, money!

Was it official? Share the link please, you got me curious.

I don't think they patch games for money. Really.

If they don't patch a game to some degree in order to fix bugs and balance the game, then their customer base will complain about the quality of the game, and Blizzard as a company. Simply put, with major balance issues and bugs, it is not a quality game. A flawed game does not sell. Therefore there is no money. They want their game to be good so it sells. Interesting fact; did you know Blizzard has a reputation of keeping their games maintained? People like the fact that Blizzard contnue to patch their games years after it has been released...This is of course a positive reputation regarding the "quality" of Blizzard's games.

Also, patching is to ensure the game meets the standards of the customers. Additionally, if there are any major faults of the game, the company can be sued for not meeting basic standards, if they do not fix it that is. I cant think of the name of the law. But if you buy a meat pie and it is mouldy, you within your rights demand a refund. Same thing applies to a game.

When the game is patched to the point where it is balanced and bug free, the customer has no right to complain and therefore there is no incentive to patch the game. Further patches will just cost money they do not need to spend. However, if there is a large playerbase, it is in Blizzard's best interest to patch the game to add content to "keep the game alive". Of course, this is so people keep buying their game. Again, thats just for money isn't it?

Now were just talking about marketing arn't we? Im not a expert, but you don't have to be to come to a basic understanding. The game industry is just a business. Businesses make money. But ask yourself. Is Blizzard really saying "Lets spend thousands and thousands to patch a game when we get nothing in return". No. Thats not how a business works sadly.
