I have just began to work my first WC3 project. I have used Starcraft2 editor alot so I am going to need some help with transfer from SC2 to WC3.

Im sure this is very basic question and easily solved but I just cant find right menu. How to set player properties right for simple map? I am making first map for campaign. I have placed some units for white and orange players on map but when I test map it randomly choses one of the players for me. So I need some detailed help to set up things right so that player is always white player.

Link to right tutorial can help alot.

Ok, I have:

Player6, Kingdom of Alterac, Orange, Human, Computer, [x] Fixed start location
Player22, Kingdom of Lordaeron, White, Human, User, [x] Fixed start location

When I start map:
- Orange units structures become red (As player)
- White units and structures become blue (As computer)

Need more help.

This sounds a lot like the ingame setting that displays alliance colors rather than player colors. Try disabling it using the button that's next to the minimap in the bottom left corner.

It is not "Select ally color" thing because I am trying to use white as player and orange as enemy. When I click "Ally color" mode red and blue change but no white or orange. On loading screen there is red "worldeditor" as player and blue computer as enemy. I am quite sure there is something wrong with map mode, player properties or triggers.

Are you running the map using the button inside the world editor? As far as I know, that button will usually default to using player slots 1 and 2 for the player and a computer to run the map.
You'd have to change the map properties to avoid this being the default. Have you tried running the map from the actual game, and selecting player colors there?

I have tested the map most of time with world editor "test map" button. I also tested same map with single player - custom campaign menu (Frozen throne) and got different results.

I believe there is someting wrong in editor settings too. Definately this mess is about defaulting to player1 (red) and player2 (blue) and melee settings with automatically created main building + workers.

So I need more help how to tell editor to forget players 1 and 2 and "melee" settings.

My project is single player campaign so I dont want anything "melee" to my maps.

I don't know in what world you guys are in, but i'm definetely not in crazyland. Of course you get different results if you play on custom campaign menu, it will have your desired colours, if you play with world editor test (F9), you get red and blue. This happens because you don't have Fixed Player Settings ticked. If only you just took 5 mins of your time, motivation, intuition and effort to investigate and search, you'd find that in no time.

...Then don't make it? You'll figure it out yourself eventually.

Thank you Wrda. Definately one step forward for me to understand some fundamental things.

Scenario - Force properties was important menu for me to find and understand. Now I have:

(Force1) Kingdom of Lordaeron
Player 22 White Human User
(Force2) Kingdom of Alterac
Player 6 Orange Human Computer

[x] Use Custom Forces
[x] Fixed Player Settings

Results:

- When I test with "test map" button in editor settings are right: player22 white is player and player6 orange is computer
- When I test with frozen throne custom campaign menu I get red main building + workers in player6 start location and win map instantly

So I dont really understand what is causing the big difference on map between editor test and custom campaign menu start.

Thank you guys, I am at least going to right direction.

= =

EDIT:

For some reason campaign launched old version of the map with wrong force settings. It works now!

I mark this thread as solved. More questions and threads coming soon :D

SOLVED

EDIT: I just learned what was causing the problem: I used normal File - Open map menu. Right way to open map is to use campaign editor (F7) and right click map file and select edit map. Otherwise changes wont be saved on campaign file. (.w3n)
