Planes of Cacti

Day/Night version. Just thought it could be fun to see how a big plane of cacti would look like, so made it.

And yeah it was just for fun, I didn't really spend much time on this though it took a few hours to finish (work spread out over the evening out of boredom).

I think the map contained around 12000 cactus plants

Whoa, that's a lot of Cactus! My poor computer wouldn't be able to handle all that in such a small area. It is kind of cool. Is there cactus even behind the hills where we can't see?

Yep, there is cacti stretching beyond the hills!

Sadly I cannot update the pictures as the map was unsaveable due to doodad limit being broken by 3-4 thousand. Some rocks and other small details would probably have improved the front, I just didn't think of it at the time, it was very late

@Gilles - My computer could hardly handle it either, I had to hide the doodads every time I wanted to change camera view and could only place more doodads in masses by copy/paste because it lagged too much for single placement

That's exactly what I did for a terrain I was doing, it was going to be rolling hills with grass covering them (The animated ones), but I gave up.

That's not very true, the bold text is only true if you multiply that by about ... twelve thousand?
Personally, I like it, it's a change, I normally use only up to 1000 doodads.

Numbers mean nothing if you set the brush to max and panned the mouse around. thats not placing things carefully, thats just sheet fire.

Well, if you set the brush big, then you'd still be creating loads. But who cares, the result is good at times. (ie. this one)

I wasn't aiming for an emmy for my "work". It was an idea I wanted to try out to see how it ended up, just for fun, and I think the end result was okay considering it's just a bunch of cacti.

Also it's rather hard to get things placed correctly once you look at more than 2000 doodads, imagine the lag at 12000!

Well according to that website I linked, yes. Cacti is correct. But 'Cactuses' is also the plural for more than one Cactus. Sounds incorrect to me, but the website knows all! NEVER REJECT IT'S LOGIC!
