Luminoth, born between the stars, are a moth-like species. They searched for a planet to call their own and came across the Chozo, and the Alimbis. In exchange for information, the Luminoth gave the Chozo the infamous weapon, the screw attack. The Luminoth found planet that appeared to be a paradice, which they named Aether. They settled on the planet and carved out a society there. They forsaw a meteor coming towards their new home, and could do nothing to stop it. By the time it reached their planet, they could only watch as their world was changed. Their temples, which channeled the energy of the planet, created a rift in time and space, creating Dark Aether, and the Ing Horde. The Ing, bloodthirsty creatures, waged war with the Luminoth. They possessed creatures, and massed places in an easy effort to overpower the Luminoth. Eventually, the Luminoth went into hybernation during their losing war to stop the Ing from dominating all sentient life in the universe, leaving a single sentinel to watch over their planet. Eventually, Samus Aran came to the planet to find a group of missing Galactic Federation marines, and found them dead. With a damaged ship in need of repairs, the bounty hunter aided the Luminoth sentinel by venturing into Dark Aether and sending the energy being shared between both worlds, to Light Aether. This weakened the Horde and Samus, fighting the Ing Emperor, AND Dark Samus, prevailed. The Luminoth thanked her, and continued their existance in peace. They were the known last of the 3 Higher Races: The Chozo, Alimbis, and the Luminoth.
